Be Like Mike from the original Gatorade ad courtesy of youtube.com.

This Bulls “resurgence” is ill-fated. “I Wanna Be Like Joakim” just doesn’t roll off the tongue, does it?

Sandwich by Parry Grip (from Do You Like Waffles, Oglio Records, 2008)

Good thing we didn’t have to run this during Passover…

Workaday World by Jack Beaver (from Music for TV Dinners, Scamp, 1997)

This jaunty jingle is a longtime favorite of Only A Game listeners. It makes it easy to imagine oneself as a worker on the Eisenhower 1952 presidential campaign, a roller waitress at a drive-in restaurant, or just a humble staff member of NPR’s only sports program.

Marry Me by Nina Simone (from A Single Woman, Elektra, 1993)

Sure, if it was Sadie Hawkins Day.

Viva Knievel by Charles Bernstein (from the Viva Knievel Soundtrack)

Shoulda been a hit! The song, definitely not the movie.

Yes, but how do I know what the piece of music was before the Evel Knievel story? What a rockin’ piece that was.

It was the band of a former WBUR employee! They are called The Indobox, and the album is “Adventure Rock”.
