Hear Ye! Hear Ye! The Town Crier Competition
Friday, September 18th, 2009

Hear ye! Hear ye!  The town crier, long an image of old-time America and days gone by, was alive and well at a living history event in tiny Hillsborough, New Hampshire.  The town hosted its first-ever competition for town criers and Only A Game’s Avishay Artsy was there.

I think we may be able to grant your wish! There are criers all over the USA. Many are in your neighborhood. Please contact me and we may get the program started.

Well done to the Criers of Hillsborough IL., Master Crier Redmond and the good people of Only A Game.
As the official Crier for The New Jersey State League of Municipalities, The Historic Towne of Smithville NJ, the County of Camden NJ, the Carpenters Company of Philadelphia and founder of the American Guild of Town Criers, it is great to see the intrest of town crying spreading around the USA.
As a host of many big and small competitions and after listening to the report from Avishay Artsy, I would like to warn the members of the American Guild, “there is good competiton brewing in Hillsborough and we will all have to try a little harder when they attend the next Guild competiton”.

Wow , this is nice to see…….I am the DUTCH towncrier from Holland Michigan, USA. In Holland, we have had a towncrier since 1940, as part of our famous TULIP TIME FESTIVAL ( http://www.tuliptime.com ).
I am also the president of the AMERICAN GUILD of TOWNCRIERS, and invited all NEW HAMSHIRE criers to join the guild, and that way stay informed what is happening in the “world of towncriers”, in the USA, but also anywhere in the world. Just last month I was in Europe and participated in two towncrier competitions. Greetings to all…………….John, the dutchman.
